TCT Expands Self-assessment Board Review Course
All TCT attendees are invited to test their knowledge at ‘Interventional Jeopardy.’

Doctors preparing for their boards can attend a more comprehensive review at this year’s TCT than in past years. The four-day, self-assessment review course will cover both interventional cardiology and endovascular fields.

The Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) is collaborating with the Society of Vascular Medicine and Biology to present the expanded course, explained George D. Dangas, MD, PhD, CRF’s Director of Academic Affairs and Investigational Pharmacology.

Integrated sessions
“Given how related the end ovascular and intervention world of cardiology curricula have become, it was natural to expand the self-assessment and board review course,” he said. “Synergy exists between the two areas. Doctors preparing for the endovascular board will find useful information in the interventional curriculum and vice versa.”

The course begins on Tuesday, October 24, focusing solely on endovascular topics for that day. On Wednesday, October 25, the course will cover both areas, and on Thursday, October 26, interventional cardiology. Course sessions will be divided into three to four lectures, each followed by a question-and-answer period with the speaker, moderator and attendees.

The morning session on Friday, October 27 will include sample review questions. A 60-question mock exam will be available online immediately after TCT.

“The original plan was to hold the mock exam during TCT, but there is a special session on Friday, October 27 that will be worthwhile for people attending the self-assessment course,” Dangas said.

Interventional Jeopardy
Immediately after the self-assessment course ends on Friday, all TCT attendees are invited to a special session of Interventional Jeopardy in room 207AB, starting at 11:15 am. As on the well-known Jeopardy game show, players will answer questions in three rounds. The categories will be related to interventional cardiology and endovascular therapy.

Dangas anticipates that this session will be very popular and notes that because of the heavy traffic expected, participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
