TCT 2006 Introduces Structural Heart Disease Track
Dedicated venue will be specifically devoted to new course content.
Structural heart disease makes its debut as an official track of course content at this year’s TCT meeting. The evolving area was included “because it was the right time to give the area its own identity within TCT’s structure,” explained TCT Course Co-Director Gary S. Mintz, MD, the Director of Publications and Editorial Services at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and Medical Director of TCTMD.com.
Structural heart disease includes valvular and congenital heart disease. These sessions will focus on percutaneous treatment of valvular and congenital heart disease, also procedures such as left atrial appendage closure and alcohol septal ablation. Attendees can expect the track to follow the same format as the coronary and peripheral tracks, which have been parts of TCT for many years.
The track will likely become a permanent feature at TCT in the future, Mintz said.
